Yekatit 12 Martyrs' Monument
የካቲት 12 ሐውልት
This white obelisk with dramatic bronze reliefs commemorates the thousands of Ethiopians massacred by Italian occupation forces in February 1937 (Yekatit 12 in the Ethiopian calendar). It anchors the Sidist Kilo roundabout near the university and pairs naturally with the Ethnological Museum.
☀️ Local tip
Best photographed in low morning light; it's a roundabout monument, so view from the perimeter.
