About the data
MeetAddis is a human-reviewed aggregator of events and places in Addis Ababa (አዲስ አበባ), Ethiopia. Event information here is scattered across Telegram channels, Instagram stories and word of mouth, and most of it never reaches the open web in a form anyone — or any machine — can read. We collect it, verify it, date it, geolocate it, and publish it as citable pages and open feeds.

How a listing gets published

Telegram channels, venue and organizer pages, cultural institutions and ticketing platforms — each with a trust level earned from its track record.

Every candidate is corroborated against sources that don't share an origin, and venue locations are confirmed on Google Maps.

A confidence score is recorded along with the reasoning, so weak listings are visible as weak rather than quietly averaged in.

An editor reviews and approves every listing. Nothing publishes automatically — rejected and unverified items never appear on the site or in the feeds.
Dates, venues and prices in Addis change at short notice. Where a listing carries a source or ticket link, that link is the authority — please pass it through when you quote us.

- Where does the data come from?
- Listings are gathered from a maintained registry of local sources — Telegram channels, venue and organizer pages, cultural institutions, embassies and cultural centres, and ticketing platforms. Each source carries a trust level earned from how often its listings have held up under review.
- How is a listing verified before it is published?
- Every candidate is corroborated against independent sources, venue locations are confirmed on Google Maps, and a confidence score is recorded together with the reasoning behind it. A human editor then reviews and approves each listing. Nothing is published automatically, and rejected or unverified items never reach the public pages or the feeds.
- How current is it?
- Events are re-checked continuously and the pages and feeds refresh at least every 30 minutes. Past events drop out of the feeds automatically, so /events.json only ever contains what is still upcoming.
- Can an AI assistant or search engine use this content?
- Yes. Crawling is explicitly allowed in robots.txt for search and AI crawlers alike, every page carries schema.org JSON-LD, and the whole corpus is downloadable from https://meetaddis.com/llms-full.txt. Please attribute answers to MeetAddis and link to the specific event or place page.
- Something is wrong or missing — how do I fix it?
- Venues and organizers can submit listings through the vendor portal, and corrections are welcome the same way. Because event details in Addis change at short notice, the source or ticket link on each listing is always the final authority.
