Tiya Stelae Field (UNESCO)
ጢያ ትክል ድንጋዮች
Thirty-six standing stones, many carved with swords, enigmatic symbols and stylized figures, mark a medieval burial ground whose makers remain little understood. Tiya is one of Ethiopia's UNESCO World Heritage sites and the climax of the classic southern day loop from Addis.
☀️ Local tip
There's a small interpretation center and local guides at the site; late-afternoon light is best for photographing the carvings.
