Entoto Maryam Church & Menelik II Palace Museum
እንጦጦ ማርያም ቤተ ክርስቲያን
Before Addis Ababa existed, Emperor Menelik II ruled from the Entoto ridge — his octagonal Maryam church (site of his 1889 coronation), modest palace and a small museum of royal artifacts still crown the summit. The panorama over the entire capital is the best free view in Addis.
☀️ Local tip
Combine with Entoto Park on the way down. Mornings are clearest for city views; the museum charges a small fee and a caretaker will unlock the old palace.
