Kazanchis Azmari Bets

Kazanchis was historically the heart of Addis's azmari bet scene — tiny bars where wandering minstrels improvise witty, teasing verses about the guests over masinko fiddle and drums. Redevelopment has demolished many, but a handful of small azmari houses still operate in the backstreets, offering the rawest version of this centuries-old tradition.
